Overwhelmingly support from Costco customers for marijuana legalization

In the March 2012 edition of the Costco Connection (which is a publication sent out to Costco Club members) they dedicated a page to the marijuana legalization debate. That's right, not to 5 gallon buckets of pickles, or 20 pound blocks of cheese, but rather a discussion on whether or not marijuana should be out right legalized.

The article outlines a debate on the topic between Ethan Nadelmann, Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance arguing the pro marijuana side, and founding director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Robert DuPont on the con side. The article directed readers to view more details about the debate online which included an online poll about the topic.
The poll was simple, it asked, “Should Marijuana Be Legal?” with a yes or no option. Visitors weren't required to be Costco members to vote, but who else other then mainly customers are going to visit the website? As of March 11th the polls were staggering on pro side of the debate, with over 89% in favor of legalizing marijuana and only 10% against it. The polls of course has no official reflection on the matter, however it shows that marijuana supporters are among all types of customers, voters, demographics and political origins, and not just couch potheads.

The time to mature past the "Reefer Madness" perspective of marijuana is now, and we must continue to fight for marijuana rights to make the step towards restoring our freedoms. Be sure to check out the poll on the Costco website and make your vote.
